This Section of BS 8000 gives recommendations on basic workmanship on building sites and covers those tasks which are frequently carried out in relation to wall and floor tiling.

The recommendations given in this Section of BS 8000 apply to the fixing of natural stone tiles to walls and floors. The stones are granite, marble, travertine, slate, quartzite, limestone and sandstone in sizes up to 0.3 m2 in superficial area and up to 40 mm thick for floors and up to 12 mm thick for walls. Recommendations for fixing natural stone tiles to timber backgrounds are not given in this Section of BS 8000.
