This European Standard, a part of the BS EN 12390 series, specifies methods for making and curing test specimens for strength tests of hardened concrete.
This standard covers the preparation and filling of moulds, compaction of the concrete, levelling the surface, curing of test specimens and transporting test specimens.
The compactioon of specimens in the moulds using hand tamping, vibrating table, or internal (poker) vibrator are accepted as equivalent. However, the use of an internal vibrator to compact specimens containing entrained air should only be undertaken with caution.
