1   Scope

This Part of BS 5194 specifies requirements for stainless steel scissors, shears and other jointed cutting instruments, such as bone-nibbling forceps (bone rongeurs), used in surgery. Requirements for the cutting ability of scissors and shears are included.

NOTE 1 A test for the cutting ability of jointed cutting instruments other than scissors and shears is under consideration.
