What is this standard about?

This European standard provides detailed technical specifications covering a wide range of steel and nickel alloys used for fasteners (e.g. screws and bolts) with high or low temperature properties.

Who is this standard for?

  • Fastener manufacturers
  • Fastener specifiers and procurers
  • Fastener testers
  • Health and safety/quality industries

Why should you use this standard?

It specifies requirements for semi-finished products, bars and rods for fasteners with properties specified at elevated and/or low temperatures made of non-alloy and alloy (including stainless) steels and nickel alloys.

The requirements of this standard may also be applied to the finished fasteners.

The general technical delivery conditions in BS EN 10021 also apply to products supplied in accordance with this European standard.

What’s changed since the last update?

This standard supersedes BS EN 10269:1999+A1:2006. The following significant changes were made:

  • The scope of the standard has been extended
  • New steel grades (e.g. 20MnB4, 23MnB4, 26NiCrMo14-6) have been added
  • Old steel grades (e.g. 19MnB4, 41NiCrMo7-3-2) have been deleted
  • Additional data concerning impact testing has been added
  • Steel grades and related tables have been split into those which fulfil or do not fulfil the PED requirements
  • New option added in Table 12 concerning testing of hardness
  • Table data generally updated
  • Normative references have been actualized
  • Editorial corrections have been made
