This European Standard, a part of the BS EN 10270 series, specifies requirements for the grades of stainless steels listed in chemical composition-heat analysis tables, which are usually used in the cold drawn condition in the form of wire of circular cross-section up to 10.00 mm in diameter, for the production of springs and spring parts that are exposed to corrosive effects and sometimes to slightly increased temperatures.
BS EN 10270-3:2001 covers requirements for the designation of products, information to be supplied by the purchaser, the manufacturing process, form of delivery, surface finish, chemical composition, technological properties, testing and inspection, and marking and packaging.
