What is this standard about?
BS EN 10293:2015 is the updated edition of this European standard relating to steel castings. It applies to general engineering uses and cases where castings are joined by welding by the founder.

Why should you use this standard?
The guidelines covered in BS EN 10293:2015 includes information to be supplied by the purchaser, designation, manufacturing process, requirements for testing, identification and marking, packaging and surface protection.
It also offers guidance on welding.It does not apply to cases where castings are welded to wrought products (plates, tubes, forgings), or by non-founders.
