BS EN 10293:2005 covers steel castings for general engineering uses. The uses of steel castings include in machinery (mechanical, electrical), the automotive industries, railroad, armament, agricultural equipment and mining.
This standard applies to cases where castings are joined by welding by the founder.
It does not apply to cases where castings are welded: to wrought products (plates, tubes, forgings), or by non-founders.
This standard covers information to be supplied by the purchaser, designation, manufacturing process, general requirements, testing and documents on material testing, identification and marking, and packaging and surface protection of the steel castings.
