What is this standard about?
This is Part 13 in a series of standards on how to test soft soldering fluxes.
Who is this standard for?
Manufacturers, testers and users of soft soldering fluxes.
Why should you use this standard?
It specifies a method for estimating the tendency of a flux to spatter in use. It is a qualitative (comparative) method and is only applicable to liquid fluxes as defined in BS EN ISO 9454-1. This method is not applicable to flux cored solder wire or to solder pastes.
What’s changed since the last update?
This supersedes the 2000 version of the standard which is withdrawn. The main changes are:
- Solder designations have been updated according to BS EN ISO 9453
- The test report has been updated
- Editorial revisions have been made
