PD ISO/TS 16949:2009
Requirements for the application of ISO 9001:2008 quality management system for automotive production and relevant service part organisations
What is it?
Published Document (PD) 16949 defines the quality management system requirements for automotive related services. When used in conjunction with BS EN ISO 9001:2008 it outlines best practice for design and development, production and installation when working with road vehicles. PD 16949 can be applied through the supply chain as well as manufacturing sites where customer specified parts are produced or serviced. These requirements also cover on-site or remote supporting functions that are not eligible for standalone certification. These include design centres, corporate headquarters and distribution centres.
How does it work?
PD 16949 specifies the quality requirements for automotive related services in line with the BS EN ISO 9001: 2008 international standard for quality management systems. It provides recommendations for achieving quality assurance across road vehicle engineering and the manufacture of components. PD 16949 also aims to improve customer and supplier relations through improved management responsibility, resource management and performance. It provides a quality benchmark that allows you to measure and control operations and output.
