Qualification of electrical installation contractors
CENELEC, the European Electrotechnical Standards Organization, has published a technical specification regarding the qualification of electrical installation contractors.
DD CLC TS 50349:2004 provides a system to identify the capability of electrical contractors undertaking electrical installations such as security and CCTV systems, underground cable networks for power distribution, overhead lines, industrial installations up to an above 36kV, public lighting systems, communications system and computer networks.
It also provides a tool for helping procurement bodies make a decision when selecting a contractor for a tender. At the present time this specification has been implemented in the UK as a draft for development and does not replace any existing national requirements. It may be useful in cases where no guidance is available.
