What is this standard about?
This British Standard deals with sizes and tolerances for a specific range of hexagonal bolts, screws and nuts.
Who is this standard for?
- Manufacturers and suppliers of black hexagon bolts, screws and nuts
- Users of black hexagon bolts, screws and nuts
Why should you use this standard?
It gives the general dimensions and tolerances of black hexagon bolts, screws and nuts with ISO metric threads in diameters from 5 mm to 68 mm inclusive. Basic dimensions for sizes greater than M68 are also included.
It also specifies and addresses mechanical properties of carbon or alloy steel bolts, screws and nuts, which are to be used for special applications. Dimensional requirements are included for bolts, screws and nuts finished black all over and for those which have partially machined finishes.
This standard gives clear guidelines which will help those making, selling and using black hexagon bolts, screws and nuts to achieve greater business efficiency and product interoperability.
NOTE: This standard should be read in conjunction with BS EN ISO 898-1 as it contains up to date best practice for mechanical properties of bolts.
