BS ISO/IEC 7816-11:2004 Identification cards. Integrated circuit cards. Personal verification through biometric methods
BS ISO/IEC 7816 is a series of standards consisting of the following parts, under the general title Identification cards. Integrated circuit cards:
- Part 1: Cards with contacts. Physical characteristics
- Part 2: Cards with contacts. Dimensions and location of the contacts
- Part 3: Cards with contacts. Electrical interface and transmission protocols
- Part 4: Organization, security and commands for interchange
- Part 5: Registration of application providers
- Part 6: Inter-industry data elements for interchange
- Part 7: Inter-industry Commands for Structured Card Query Language (SCQL)
- Part 8: Commands for security operations
- Part 9: Commands for card management
- Part 10: Cards with contacts. Electronic signals and answer to reset for synchronous cards
- Part 11: Personal verification through biometric methods
- Part 13: Commands for application management in a multi-application environment
- Part 15: Cryptographic information application
This part of BS ISO/IEC 7816 is one of a series of standards describing the parameters for integrated circuit(s) cards with contacts and the use of such cards for international interchange. BS ISO/IEC 7816 may also apply to contactless cards.
BS ISO/IEC 7816 specifies security related inter-industry commands to be used for personal verification with biometric methods in integrated circuit(s) cards. It also defines the data structure and data access methods for use of the card as a carrier of the biometric reference data and/or as the device to perform the verification of a personal biometric (on-card matching).
BS ISO/IEC 7816-11 does no cover identification of people using biometric methods.
