There is help on hand for manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment, testing laboratories, enforcement agencies, and many more organizations in assessing the exposure of electromagnetic fields to the general public.
The aim of BS EN 50392:2004 is to demonstrate the compliance of apparatus with the basic restrictions or reference levels on exposure of the general public related to electric, magnetic, electromagnetic fields as well as induced and contact current.
BS EN 50392 contains:
- compliance criteria, assessment methods and reporting
- evaluation of compliance to limits
- characteristics and parameters of apparatus to be considered
- sources of multiple frequencies
- information to be supplied with the apparatus.
It applies to apparatus intended for use by the general public as defined in the Council Recommendation 1999/519/EC. It applies where there is no product specific standard. It does not cover medical equipment and medical devices as defined in the directive 93/42/EEC.
