It is an updated supplement to BS EN 62305-2 which provides a procedure for assessing the risk to a structure or service from lightning flashes to earth.
PD 62305-2 contains improved lightning flash density maps to the one currently available in BS EN 62305-2. The strong recommendation is that this document is now used in conjunction with that standard.
What’s changed since the last update?
The strike data has been grouped into lightning flashes as per the internationally accepted criteria. Flash density has been calculated using a resolution of 10 km2, representing a significant improvement on the previously published flash density map in BS EN 62305-2:2012.
