What is this PAS about?
It provides a fire risk management system that operates at an organizational level – as opposed to at an individual premises and facility level.
Who is this PAS for?
The PAS can be adopted by any organization wanting to implement a formal procedure to reduce the risks to life (of employees, customers and the general public), property, assets and the environment that are associated with fire in the working environment.
Why should you use this PAS?
In many cases, the person(s) with fire safety management duties under legislation might be part of a larger organization with multiple sites and facilities with common working practices and procedures.
Therefore, PAS 7 has been developed to provide a fire risk management system that operates at an organizational level. It can be applied in:
- Organizations that operate on multiple sites
- Separate management divisions within an organization
- Individual premises within a single organization
This PAS complements existing standards for fire risk assessment, such as PAS 79. It specifies requirements for integrating fire safety as a management system approach and can also be implemented with reference to BS 9999:2017, which defines a number of management levels and factors to be used in assessing fire safety management.
