In today’s global economy, communication on environmental values, actions and performance has become an essential activity of organizations as a result of both increased public concern and interest, and governmental activities related to the environment.

BS EN ISO 14063 gives guidelines to organizations for general principles, policy, strategy and activities relating to both internal and external environmental communication. It uses proven and well-established approaches for communication, adapted to the specific conditions that exist in environmental communication.

Good communications can:

-          share information on an organization’s environmental commitments, policies and performance

-          create trust and transparency around what’s being communicated

-          have information readily available for stakeholders

-          demonstrate risk management and the meeting of regulations

The way in which we communicate has changed since ISO 14063 was first published in 2010 and this new revision brings the guidelines and examples bang up-to-date to include the instantaneous communication required by new devices such as phones and tablets. It is a great tool to use with BS EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and other ISO 14000 series standards, including BS EN ISO 14064-1 on greenhouse gas inventories and ISO 14044 on lifecycle assessment.
