BS EN 16001:2009, Guidance and requirements for energy management systems
What is it?
BS EN 16001:2009 gives recommendations and guidance on energy management systems. It is designed to help you improve energy efficiency by outlining how to put in place processes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. BS EN 16001 enables you to develop an energy policy and set objectives for your management system in line with legal and regulatory requirements. The standard can be applied to all organisations across all sectors and adapted to different geographical, cultural and social conditions.
How does it work?
BS EN 16001 will help you improve energy performance by implementing new managing processes or improving existing systems. It enables you to achieve legal and regulatory compliance as well as energy management certification. BS EN 16001 outlines ways to set energy policy and measure performance against this and the standard. It can be used independently or integrated with other management systems, helping you save money and gain industry recognition for energy performance and sustainable development.
Who should buy it?
- Organisations that want to improve or implement an energy management system
- Organisations that want to achieve legal and regulatory compliance or BS EN 14001 certification
- Energy, environment and facilities managers or energy assessors, engineers and consultants
- Those responsible for policy, finance or strategy within a business
