What is this standard about?

It is the second part of Part 3 of a multi-part European standard on handling electromagnetic compatibility. Part 3 looks at limits. This part gives emission limits for harmonic currents from equipment having an input current up to and including 16 A per phase.

Who is this standard for?

  • Manufacturers, designers and users of electrical and electronic equipment and components
  • Test laboratories
  • Inspectors and quality assessors

Why should you use this standard?

It deals with the limitation of harmonic currents injected into the public low-voltage mains electricity supply system by electrical and electronic equipment.

It covers a large variety of electrical and electronic equipment having an input current up to and including 16 A per phase, intended for use by both the general public and professionals.

What’s changed since the last update?

This is a technical update superseding BS EN 61000-3-2:2006+A2:2009 which was withdrawn.
