BS EN 474-9:2006+A1:2009 Earth-moving machinery. Safety. Requirements for pipelayers
BS EN 474-9 deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to pipelayers when they are used as intended, and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer.
The requirements of BS EN 474-9 are complementary to the common requirements formulated in BS EN 474-1:2006+A1:2009.
BS EN 474-9 does not repeat the requirements from BS EN 474-1:2006+A1:2009, but adds or replaces the requirements for application for pipelayers.
BS EN 474-9 specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events during commissioning, operation and maintenance of pipelayers. It also specifies additional requirements for rear mounted winches.
Pipelayers with rotating upper structure are excluded from the scope of this document. However, specific requirements are under development. BS EN 474-9 does not apply to pipelayers manufactured before the date of publication of this standard by CEN.
