1 Scope
Thisdocumentspecifiesameasuringmethodforthecharacterizationofrheologicalpropertiesofstructuraladhesivesusingoscillatoryrheometry. Moreover, thetestingprocedurecanbeappliedtothereactivemixtureofseveralcomponentsorthecomponentsofareactivebondingpastematerial. Theadvantageofthemethodincomparisontorotationalviscometrymeasurementsliesintheseparationofelasticandviscousmaterialproperties, thusallowingthedefiningoftheviscoelasticproperties. Thisenablesmorepreciseinformationconcerningtheflowbehaviourofthematerials, therebyresultinginabetterunderstandingoftheirprocessingproperties.
Themethoddescribedisparticularlysuitableforfilledandpaste-likeadhesives. Thesearefrequentlyprocessedusingautomatedpumpandapplicationsystemsinindustrialapplicationsandwillbesetpreciselyconsideringtheirrheologicalproperties. Astherheologicalbehaviourofuncuredadhesivesismostlyindependentoftheirpropertiesinthecuredstate, thedocumentcanalsoservefortheexaminationofnon-structuraladhesives.
