It gives guidelines for the construction and related testing of drains and sewers that are buried in the ground and/or operating under pressure.

Why should you use this standard?
It gives updated recommendations on drains and sewers installed in trenches, under embankments or above ground and frequently operating under gravity or at pressure up to 0.5 kPa when surcharged. The standard also covers components and materials, embedment installation, connections to pipes and manholes and inspection criteria.
The construction of pipelines operating under pressure is also covered by BS EN 1610 together with BS EN 805 as appropriate.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN 1610 has been revised and updated to address issues in relation to air and water-tightness testing and durability.
