BS 7121-11:1998 gives recommendations for safe use of offshore cranes (including supporting structures affixed to offshore installations), primarily operating in an open sea environment. The following activities are not covered in this part of BS 7121:
- slinging practices
- crane erection practices
- use of all non-slewing cranes used offshore [e.g. blowout preventer (BOP) cranes, overhead travelling cranes, gantry cranes, hoists and davits].
