This European Standard, a part of the BS EN 10277 series, specifies the general technical delivery conditions for bright steel bars in the drawn, turned or ground condition, in straight lengths and of the following steel types:
a) general engineering steels
b) free-cutting steels
c) case-hardening steels
d) steels for quenching and tempering.
Requirements are given on classification and designation, information to be supplied by the purchaser, the manufacturing process, inspection and testing, and marking.
This European Standard does not cover cold rolled products and cut lengths produced from strip or sheet by cutting.
