What is this standard about?

BS EN ISO 17672 is an international welding standard which specifies the compositional ranges of a series of filler metals used for brazing.

Who is this standard for?

Manufacturers and users of filler metals in sectors that include:

  • Engineering
  • Shipbuilding
  • Automotive
  • Aerospace
  • Precious metal jewellery
  • Dental

Why should you use this standard?

It outlines the most up to date specifications associated with the metal joining process of brazing. The filler metals are divided into seven classes, related to their composition, but not necessarily to the major element present. Technical guidelines and delivery conditions are given for brazing filler metals and products containing brazing filler metals with other constituents such as flux and/or binders.

NOTE: In the case of composite products, such as flux-coated rods, pastes or plastics tapes, BS EN ISO 17672 covers only the filler metal that forms part of such products.

What’s changed since the last update?

  • This is the second edition of BS EN ISO 17672:2016 and replaces the 2010 standard
  • It has been systematically reviewed by experts, who have taken into consideration recent material, technological and industry developments
